SK 3 – 0 Cloud9
A convincing three maps to nothing win saw SK Gaming win ESL One Cologne on July 9th 2017.
The Brazilian roster became the first five to take a step towards the ultimate prize, The Intel Grand Slam, by winning in Germany. 16 of the best teams in the world were on hand in Cologne, and in the end SK won decisively against the American team Cloud9.
The final was played on Cobblestone (16-9), Train (16-12) and Inferno (16-14).
SK`s leader, Gabriel “Fallen” Toledo, also lead the scoreboard throughout by posting a +20 frag ratio. He was only outdone by superstar Marcelo “coldzera” David`s outrageous +31 rating over the series.
Toledo and David`s efforts were instrumental in the effort that netted SK 100 000 USD and the first of four trophies needed to secure the Intel Grand Slam. SK`s Epitacio “Taco” de Melo thanked his fans and the Brazilian crowd on hand in Germany when he was interviewed following the impressive win. He offered this explanation the success of SK:
-It`s just hard work, I think, de Melo said.
With the first win under their belts, SK has nine more chances to get the remaining three victories that will secure a one million dollar payday and a place in history.
